SBU announced FSB assassination attempt on Russian opposition representative thwarted
The Security Service of Ukraine reported that the presumed target of the FSB was one of the leaders of the Russian opposition political national movement. He arrived in Ukraine for Independence Day.
"The SBU, together with the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, prevented a terrorist act that the FSB of the Russian Federation was preparing against one of the leaders of the Russian opposition political national movement who arrived in Ukraine for the Independence Day of our state. Operational-investigative actions are underway," the SBU stated in its official announcement.
The special service did not specify who exactly was to be attacked, how the assassination attempt was prepared, or who was detained.
