Belarus ranks 27th in Europe by the value of the most expensive company in the country
The most expensive public company in Belarus is Belarusbank, the country's largest bank. Its market capitalization is estimated at $7.83 billion, writes Thinktanks.pro.

By this indicator, Belarus ranks 27th among 42 European countries. However, the situation with Belarus is quite specific: Belarusbank shares are traded not on international exchanges, but on the Belarusian stock market, so the calculated capitalization cannot be directly compared with the valuation of companies whose shares are actively traded on major international exchanges.
Visual Capitalist specialists compiled the rating based on data from StockAnalysis.com and local stock exchanges. The authors identified the largest public company in each country by the location of its headquarters and ranked countries by its market capitalization.
At the same time, Belarusbank's indicator should be viewed with caution. Candidate of Economic Sciences Anastasia Luzgina notes in an interview with Thinktanks that the Belarusian stock market remains illiquid: transactions with shares occur rarely, including with Belarusbank shares. According to her, the price of shares and their quantity alone do not guarantee the presence of a buyer at that price.
According to StockAnalysis.com data, among the largest companies in neighboring countries, Belarusbank is ahead of Ukraine's Kyivstar, Lithuania's Ignitis Group, and Latvia's Eleving Group.
The Ukrainian telecom operator Kyivstar ranks 30th with a capitalization of $2.96 billion. Lithuania's Ignitis Group, which operates in the energy and utilities sector, is in 33rd place ($1.78 billion). The last not only among our neighbors but also in all of Europe was the Latvian financial company Eleving Group – 42nd place and $210 million.
Russia's Sberbank, which provides banking and financial services, ranks 13th in the rating with a capitalization of $73.49 billion, while the Polish energy and oil and gas company Orlen ranks 17th with $44.26 billion.

The leader of the rating was the Dutch ASML, which produces manufacturing equipment for semiconductors. Its capitalization is $670.27 billion. In second place is the British bank HSBC ($342.35 billion), and in third place is the Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche ($341.5 billion). These are followed by the German industrial company Siemens ($246.27 billion) and the French cosmetics manufacturer L'Oréal ($230.18 billion).
In the lower part of the ranking, besides Latvia, are Montenegro with the energy company Elektroprivreda Crne Gore ($680 million), North Macedonia with Komercijalna Banka ($980 million), and Moldova with maib bank ($910 million).
The financial sector is most frequently represented among Europe's largest companies: banks, insurance, and investment companies became the largest in 18 out of 42 countries. Energy companies are the largest in another 10 countries.
