Vanish to become Resolve, Tiret to Xtomer. Belarusians warned household chemical brands will soon change names
Popular household chemical products are appearing on Belarusian store shelves with warnings that their names will soon change. People are surprised.
A video from a supermarket was published by Minsk blogger Maxim Pushkin. It shows that bottles of household chemicals have warning stickers. Soon, Vanish will be called Resolve, Tiret — Xtomer, and Finish — Signum. Next to some products, 'twin' items are already displayed: the bottle design is identical, but the names are different.
«Who knows what's happening? Why did they decide to change the name in 2026?» — the blogger asks his audience.
The products shown by Pushkin originally belonged to the British company Reckitt. In April, Reuters reported that the company's Russian division was developing new products and registering intellectual property rights to replace most of its range of hygiene products in Russia in response to strengthened EU sanctions.
In July, Reckitt officially announced that it was selling its Russian division. The buyer is LLC «Arnest». This is a major Russian group of companies that produces household chemicals, cosmetics, and other products. In recent years, it has actively acquired Russian enterprises of foreign companies leaving Russia.
For example, in 2024, «Arnest» acquired the Belarusian and Russian divisions of Unilever (the company that produced Dove soap, Rexona deodorants, and Domestos cleaning products).
In addition to Vanish, Tiret, and Finish, other brand products will also change their names. For example, Calgon will become Salgent, and Cillit Bang — Brillit Blast.
