German Deputy from Pro-Russian Party to Bring Representatives of "Alternative for Germany" to Belarus
A representative of the "Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance" party is organizing a bus tour, bringing together non-partisan citizens and representatives of ideologically opposing German political forces into one group.

The initiative of Sven Gornau, a member of the Brandenburg state parliament from the "Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance" (BSW), is reported by Reform.news, citing the German agency dpa and the newspaper Märkische Oderzeitung.
The trip is planned for November. The politician states that the goal of the visit is to support mutual understanding between peoples and restore regular contacts at a human level, which should not be hindered by the general political situation.
The bus tour will gather 30 to 40 people, whose composition stands out with an unusual combination for German politics.
Gornau claims that most passengers are non-partisan, but among the participants are not only BSW members but also representatives of the far-right party "Alternative for Germany" (AfD), as well as politicians from the "Greens" party.
The largest delegation will depart from Frankfurt (Oder) — from November 6 to 11, this group plans to visit Vitebsk. Other participants intend to restore twin-city ties in Minsk, building on past relations between the Belarusian capital and Potsdam.

The organizer of the trip consistently promotes a course loyal to the Belarusian and Russian authoritarian regimes. This spring, Sven Gornau was one of the initiators of a visit by BSW members and supporters to the Russian embassy in Berlin, and
in April 2027, he plans to organize a similar bus trip to Russia.
In the state parliament, the deputy, who works as a lawyer in his everyday life, has repeatedly drawn criticism for supporting AfD proposals. His foreign policy stance directly influenced Brandenburg's domestic policy as well. In 2024, during coalition negotiations, Gornau publicly criticized the deployment of the Arrow 3 anti-missile defense system at the Bundeswehr airbase Holzdorf, and in January 2026, the ruling coalition of Social Democrats (SPD) and BSW in this region finally collapsed.
