«Refugees from Donbas» reappear in Homiel. The scam has been running for over 10 years
In early October 2026, a group of people claiming to be refugees from Ukraine and asking for help was again spotted in Homiel. For example, in the Navabelitski district, people walked through the streets in the private sector collecting aid. This is being reported in Homiel chats, noted «Flagshtok».

According to eyewitnesses, those asking for help claimed that allegedly over 300 of them were brought by train from Horlivka and left to live in train cars on a dead-end track near the station. They were supposedly not being fed, so people asked for help with whatever they could – food, clothing.
Many allegedly believed them, offered help, and even intended to organize a large-scale collection of goods and food.
However, it can be stated with certainty that those approaching the residents of Homiel were not refugees, but fraudsters. This story is already 12 years old — since 2014, after Russia began seizing territory in Ukraine's Donetsk region, such «refugees» have periodically appeared in Homiel, telling the same legend. For example, this was reported in 2015.
As for Horlivka, this city was almost immediately occupied by Russia and remains under its control to this day.
