Belarusians in Poland rank second among foreigners in terms of mortgage loans.
Foreign citizens are increasingly taking out bank loans in Poland, and usually for larger amounts than Poles. According to Puls Biznesu, from January to the end of October, banks granted them loans for 7.65 billion zlotys (1.81 billion euros) in the mortgage segment alone, reports the Belarusian service of Polish Radio.

The entire portfolio of loans granted to foreigners is now valued at nearly PLN 29 billion (€6.89 billion) and continues to grow. Mortgage loans account for 82% of this amount, with consumer loans making up another 14%.
"We are seeing a steady increase in the share of foreigners in the mortgage market. It is now almost 10% in terms of the volume of loans granted. In the case of consumer loans, it is about 2.5%," said Sławomir Żybek from the Credit Information Bureau.
This year alone, banks have granted foreigners loans totaling PLN 11.63 billion: PLN 7.65 billion in mortgages (+42% y/y), PLN 2.57 billion in consumer loans (+46%), and PLN 1.42 billion in other loans (+57%).
The average mortgage amount for a foreigner is PLN 513,000, while for a Pole it is PLN 449,000. Indians receive the largest loans, and among Belarusians, the average mortgage loan is about PLN 600,000. This surprises analysts, as a significant portion of foreign workers are Ukrainians, who often perform lower-paying jobs.
There are currently about 1.1 million foreigners working in Poland, which is 5.5% more than last year. The Credit Information Bureau databases already contain 321,000 foreign borrowers: 227,000 Ukrainians, 31,000 Belarusians, and 63,000 representatives of other countries.
