On Friday morning, a live animal — a marten — wasnoticedat the very top of a tree near the BNTU building. How it got there and where it came from in the city center is not entirely clear, but the situation, at least for the marten itself, was quite tense. As a result, it climbed down from the tree, but a sad fate still befell the animal,writesOnliner.by.

— It's been sitting there since morning. People called the Ministry of Emergency Situations, thinking they would put up a ladder and get it down. But it turned out there was nowhere to put a ladder, and the marten also jumps from branch to branch, — one of the students reported on Friday around 4:30 PM. — This was on the first day snow fell in Minsk, we filmed it. It liked the snow: it played around like a puppy. It seems to be very young, never managed to catch a single bird. This is how it ran around several times at night: it runs — and then to the ground. We looked for it during the day — never found it. Where it came from is unclear, — commented a library worker on the video.
But there is another version, according to which the marten is still wild, just accustomed to urban conditions. Another reader said that residents of Hrushauka had encountered a similar animal before. According to the Minsk resident, the marten had long hunted pigeons in the attics of private houses on Shchorsa Street, which were slated for demolition.
— It used to come in spring for pigeons, hasn't been seen for half a year. And in general, many animals and birds suffered, lost their usual habitat, nesting sites, and food sources during the demolition of houses. How many sleeping hedgehogs alone fell under the excavator bucket during demolition. They used to run around here in whole families. So the marten, in search of a better life and food, got lost in the city. Poor thing.

Unfortunately, the marten's adventures in Minsk quickly ended in tragedy: on Sunday afternoon, it was found dead near the intersection of Masherava Avenue and Krasnaya Street.
