A new director, Alina Sorokina, has appeared in the drama theater. Previously, she worked at the Griboyedov Smolensk Drama Theater.
Sorokina is now preparing the New Year's production "The Nutcracker" — the premiere is scheduled for mid-December, writes "Grodno Pravda". A chief director for the drama theater had been sought for a year and a half through a job vacancies website, writes Hrodna.life
According to Sorokina's LinkedIn, in the 2000s she worked as an assistant to a deputy in the Russian State Duma for four years. After that, she became an advertising manager. In subsequent years, Sorokina's activities were already related to theater.
Sorokina graduated from GITIS, and then got a job at the Smolensk Theater, where she worked for 10 years. According to Sorokina, she had seen productions of the Grodno Drama Theater before — she "really liked" the plays.
In the summer, Sorokina spoke with the director of the drama theater, Olga Bogdanovich — after the conversation, she "decided to try herself" in the work.
Sorokina has been in Grodno for several months now, getting to know the city. In her future productions, she wants to focus on history, and also to present it in a way that is understandable to the audience, "taking into account the mentality and cultural characteristics".
Sorokina's first production at the Grodno Drama Theater will be "The Nutcracker". The premiere is scheduled for today, December 13.
