The first opponent of the Belarus national team this year has been determined. On March 26, it will meet with the Cyprus national team, the Belarusian Football Federation reported .

Throughout their previous history, the national teams of Belarus and Cyprus have met twice, and each time these were friendly matches. On February 18, 2004, Belarus won with a score of 2:0, and on November 19, 2008, Cyprus won with a score of 2:1.
In the current FIFA ranking, the Cyprus national team occupies 128th place, and Belarus is 99th. In the last European qualification for the 2026 World Cup, Cyprus took 4th place in its group of five teams, gaining 8 points: they twice defeated San Marino (2:0 and 4:0) and drew with Romania (2:2) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (2:2).
The match will start on March 26 at 20:00 Belarusian time. The meeting will definitely take place in Cyprus; the exact venue will be determined later.
This will be the first match of the Belarusian national team under the leadership of new head coach Viktor Goncharenko.
