Procedure for obtaining a residence permit to be simplified for "valuable" foreigners
In Belarus, the procedure for obtaining a residence permit is to be simplified for foreigners who are of particular value to the country. Deputies of the House of Representatives adopted in the second reading a bill on amendments to legislation concerning state dactyloscopic registration.

Among the proposed innovations is the abolition of the requirement for three years of continuous residence in Belarus for foreigners who want to obtain a permanent residence permit.
If the document is approved by the Council of the Republic and signed by Lukashenka, this rule will cease to apply to highly qualified foreign specialists who come to live and work in the country.
In addition, the bill provides for mandatory state dactyloscopy for certain categories of foreigners, stateless persons, and citizens of Belarus. It is proposed to entrust the border guard agencies with conducting such a procedure in specified cases.
The document also grants border guards and customs officers the right to conduct personal searches of citizens and their belongings at the border, including using special and technical means.
