Greenland's Premier: If we are forced to choose, we will choose Denmark, not the USA
Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen stated that the island's authorities are not considering the possibility of joining the United States. He said this on January 13 in Copenhagen at a joint press conference with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

The head of Greenland's government emphasized: if there were now a need to choose between the United States and Denmark, Greenland would prefer Denmark.
"One thing must be clear to everyone. Greenland does not want to belong to the United States. Greenland does not want to be governed by the United States. Greenland does not want to be part of the United States," the Greenlandic premier stated.
This statement came against the backdrop of earlier remarks by US President Donald Trump, who had repeatedly spoken about his desire to annex Greenland, citing national security interests. The White House even offered to buy the island and did not rule out the use of force for its annexation.
Currently, Greenland is an autonomous territory within Denmark.
