Lenta.ru employee who rose to lieutenant and commanded a platoon died at the front
The Russian publication Lenta.ru reported that its former correspondent Nikolai Chigasov died at the front near Seversk. Reportedly, he sustained fatal injuries as a result of a Ukrainian drone attack near the village of Verkhnyakamenskoye back in mid-September.

Nikolai Chigasov graduated from the Faculty of Political Science and World Politics at the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg and worked in the international editorial office of Lenta.ru from 2021 to 2022.
After the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine in 2022, Chigasov initially covered refugee issues, and later voluntarily went to the front. He participated in the creation of countermeasures against Ukrainian drones in the Luhansk region, serving in the 'Surikaty' unit.
In September 2024, Chigasov sustained shrapnel wounds from an FPV drone, but managed to survive then. For the last year, he fought near Seversk, commanding a fire support platoon of an assault company. Starting his service as a private, he rose to the rank of lieutenant.
