Białystok activists raised the alarm: Anatol Vaitsekhouski, an entrepreneur and founder of the popular 1990s Baranavichy newspaper «Shag,» who emigrated after the 2020 protests, has disappeared.
Locals noticed that the man stopped appearing at his taxi job after his former flatmate, Uladzimir Usaŭ, died. It should be recalled that Usaŭ was under investigation in Poland on espionage charges.
However, as Nasha Niva learned, while Anatol Vaitsekhouski was frantically searched for in Białystok, with various theories about his disappearance being formed, he was found in Belarus.

In November 2025, eight armed men in bulletproof vests — Polish special services — raided the Białystok apartment where Vaitsekhouski lived with 69-year-old Babruisk native Uladzimir User (Lazarau). The apartment was searched, and Lazarau was taken in on suspicion of espionage. However, he soon died: his heart stopped.
Before the espionage story, both neighbors got involved in a BT propaganda film. Commissioned by propagandists who introduced themselves as activists from Vilnius wishing to help those struggling financially in emigration, Vaitsekhouski and User recorded a video discussing all the downsides of living abroad.
Anatol Vaitsekhouski then claimed that he appeared in the film «A Foreign Sky» by mistake, having trusted his neighbor. Both earned 50 euros from the film.
Białystok activists reported that Vaitsekhouski unexpectedly disappeared about a month ago (a day after User died in the shelter). Anatol deleted his Telegram profile, turned off his phone, and stopped going to work as a taxi driver.
They tried to call Anatol's wife, Tatsiana, who continued to live in Belarus. During the conversation, the woman behaved suspiciously: she hesitantly stated that she and Anatol had been divorced for a long time and that she knew nothing about his fate. However, her Instagram contained numerous photos and videos from vacations with her husband, dated 2025. After this, the call was cut off, and the next time, Anatol himself answered, managing to say that he was «vacationing with relatives.» When asked why he left Poland and if he planned to return, the man hung up.

Before the post-election protests of 2020, the man lived with his family in Baranavichy, for some time working at the district telecommunications hub. In the mid-1990s, Vaitsekhouski became one of the founders of the local newspaper «Shag.» It was one of the city's first private newspapers and once one of the most popular, with a circulation of 11,000 copies. Later, it reformatted into a purely advertising publication. In the early 2000s, Vaitsekhouski left journalism and became an entrepreneur. He dealt with medical products and health goods.
In 2023, Vaitsekhouski was detained by GUBOP (Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption) for leaving comments on Telegram against the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the violence of security forces. But when he was released, he promptly evacuated abroad with the help of «Bysol.»
