Last Christmas, nuns from St. Elisabeth Convent were selling their souvenirs in Täby, an affluent suburb of Stockholm. The abbot of the parish in Täby gave them permission to set up a table in the church corridor.
In an interview with The Telegraph, he said he was unaware the monastery supported the war in Ukraine when he invited nuns from there last year and several times before the 2022 invasion.
He mentioned the nuns' visit to his church last year. «When they came, we gave them two tables, and they stood in the corridor selling wooden crafts, knitwear, socks, and so on.»
Swedish media reported that colleagues of the nuns from St. Elisabeth Convent, who promote Putin's propaganda, have visited 20 churches in the country.

The Telegraph mentions that in Västerås, 100 kilometers from Stockholm, near the airport, a Russian Orthodox church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God has been built.
Stockholm-Västerås Airport (VST) has one of the longest runways in the country and was actively used during the pandemic for rapid transits. In Sweden, it is known as an «emergency airport,» meaning it would be relied upon in case of a natural disaster or war with Russia.
«Perhaps it is not surprising, therefore, that the Russians wanted to build a huge and luxurious church just three hundred meters from it, adorned with large golden crosses and onion domes,» the publication writes.
Swedish special services state that the church is likely used as a platform for espionage, for example, to monitor the airport. Russia denies this.
