One of the political prisoners in the Homel colony is pregnant, due to give birth soon
This is photo illustrator Natallia Levaya, who was arrested at the border after returning to Belarus.
"Most of all today I worry about Natasha Levaya. A miracle happened: she became pregnant after a visit with her husband. Before this, the couple had been unable to have children for a long time. Natasha is due to give birth approximately in March. I so wish this would happen under different circumstances," wrote former political prisoner and Tut.by editor-in-chief Maryna Zolatava on social media.
Natallia Levaya is an illustrator from Brest. It is likely that after the war started, she moved to Poland, where she worked as an artist and production designer. In December 2023, Natallia resigned and decided to return to her homeland. Colleagues discouraged the woman from returning home, but she said that she strongly missed her homeland and had already paid donations in multiple amounts for 2020 and had a document from the KGB.
Natallia was detained at the border on May 8, 2024. Information about donations could have been found in her banking app, personal correspondence, cryptocurrency purchase app, photos, or phone memory.
She was sentenced to six years in a general-regime colony. In addition, she was fined 1000 basic units (40,000 rubles) — almost the same amount Natallia had donated to initiatives and funds.
Natallia Levaya was found guilty under the following articles of the Criminal Code: Part 2 of Art. 361-1 (financing extremist activities), Part 2 of Art. 361-3 (financing participation in military actions on the territory of a foreign state), and Art. 361-2 (financing the activities of an extremist formation)
