Vital Karpanau, frontman of Drazdy, announced on Instagram that the band recorded a Russian-language version of the song "Khata Batskoŭ". He published a video fragment – Yuriy Stoyanov sings with him in the frame (the actor was born in Odesa, but fundamentally calls himself a Russian artist):
"Не продаётся родительский дом,
Земля родимая не продаётся.
Я возвращаюсь, я помню о нём.
И снова сердце чаще бьётся"
The song "Khata Batskoŭ" became a unique calling card for the band Drazdy. The music video for it garnered a record-breaking 5.4 million views on YouTube for Drazdy. The song truly became a people's anthem. Belarusians all over the world sang: "My parents' home is not for sale".
Therefore, the reaction to the Russian-language version was mixed. The video on Instagram has already garnered about 600 thousand views and 24 thousand likes. Some write that this song sounds beautiful in any language, while others add that they still sing it in Belarusian internally.
There are also more sharp comments: "My ears cringed", "They spoiled such a great work", "It hurts me to listen". The most popular comment, which received almost a thousand likes, is: "Nooooo! It sounds better in Belarusian".
Likely, the Russian-language version of the song was made for the Belarusian-Russian film "Parents' Home", about the filming of which Vital Karpanau spoke last year.
This is a family comedy about Dasha, a flight attendant, who comes to her native village to sell her grandmother's house and pay off debts. Instead of a simple deal, which the girl was counting on, she gets into a series of curious situations, encounters cheerful neighbors, and a stubborn but charming cheesemaker Misha and his restless nephew, who constantly involves Dasha in some incidents.
