Two Belarusian citizens may be involved in sabotage at a defense plant in Romania
Romanian law enforcement agencies are investigating the possible involvement of two Belarusian citizens and one Ukrainian citizen in a fire at an industrial facility in Brașov. According to the investigation, they may belong to a sabotage network that planned operations in Romania and other EU countries.

As reported by the Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), the fire occurred in September 2026 near the CARFIL SA enterprise, which is part of the state-owned company CN ROMARM. The activities of the suspects were monitored by DIICOT officers and the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime with the support of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI).
Two of the suspects were found and taken into custody in Germany. According to Romanian authorities, they were preparing similar actions. The nationality of those detained was not specified in the report.
On October 26, a third European arrest warrant was issued for a defendant found in Poland. Romanian authorities have not reported whether he was apprehended.
According to the investigation, the individuals also planned actions against other facilities in Romania and other EU countries. The investigation is ongoing into the preparation of acts of sabotage. Romanian authorities are taking measures to extradite the suspects to their country.
DIICOT, the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs, and SRI continue to determine who else might have been involved in the case, and are also evaluating possible threats to strategic facilities. The names of the individuals, the alleged organizers of the network, and possible masterminds are not mentioned in the official statement.
