On the night of October 27, Russian forces attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles. Reportedly, as many as four "Iskander-M" missiles were launched at the Southern Bridge.

As a result of the ballistic strikes, the bridge sustained significant damage.
In the video published by Ukrainian media, a large through-hole is visible in the roadbed between the rails, along with shattered reinforced concrete slab and bent rebar. The rails are also damaged.
The bridge was closed, and traffic on it was altered.
During the national TV marathon, Yuriy Ihnat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, noted that during the attack on the evening and night of October 26-27, the enemy Russians used 16 ballistic missiles of the "Iskander-M" type or S-400 anti-aircraft missiles, several of which were directed at the Southern Bridge in Kyiv.
"Of course, this roadway can be restored, because bridges are not as easy to destroy as some might think. But, in the end, it also causes certain inconveniences. To restore it, time is needed," Ihnat stated.
In addition, the targets of the attack also included various objects in the capital, including banks, gas stations, an industrial zone, and enterprises.
