Two local residents were detained in the Slawharad district on suspicion of poaching. During an inspection, inspectors for the protection of animal and plant life found a significant stock of explosives, combat grenades, ammunition, and unregistered weapons at one of their homes.

Initially, suspicions of illegal fishing attracted the attention of employees of the Mogilev Regional Inspectorate for the Protection of Animal and Plant Life. Nets with a total length of 180 meters were confiscated from the men. An administrative case was initiated for violating fishing rules.
However, during a search of one of the detainees' homes, inspectors found more than 20 kilograms of TNT, about 400 grams of gunpowder, and a detonating cord. In addition, 80 electric detonators, nine fuzes, detonator caps, and UZRGM igniters were stored there.

Among the found ammunition were three 45-millimeter artillery shells, RG-42, RGD-5, and F-1 grenades, as well as a rifle grenade. Inspectors also found an unregistered SVT combat carbine — a Tokarev rifle, an unregistered IZH-58 shotgun, and over 750 rounds of various calibers, including 7.62 millimeters, 12-gauge, and 16-gauge.
In addition to weapons and explosives, a metal detector was also found in the house. According to the inspectors, it could have been used to search for and excavate old military caches and ammunition remaining from World War II.
Given the quantity of items found and the potential danger to public safety, law enforcement agencies joined the inspection. The circumstances of the case are being investigated by the 11th Department of GUBOPiK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.
The question of initiating a criminal case under Article 295 of the Criminal Code, which provides for liability for illegal actions with weapons and explosives, including imprisonment, is currently being resolved.
