Repressions in the country do not stop. In the Grodno region alone, in 2025, 384 criminal cases were initiated for political reasons. The first deputy prosecutor of the region, Yevgeny Shcherbak, told "Grodnenskaya Pravda" about "extremism" in the region.
"First and foremost, we view extremism as a real danger to the stability of state institutions. In 2025 alone, investigative bodies initiated 384 criminal cases of an extremist nature, and 68 cases involving 71 individuals (65 men and 6 women) were sent to courts.
Since 2020, 606 such criminal cases have already been transferred to courts, and 148 individuals are currently on the wanted list," Shcherbak said.
According to him, last year the Grodno regional prosecutor's office also sent 156 applications to the court to recognize informational materials as extremist - all of them were satisfied.
