Nuns from St. Elisabeth Convent Spotted in Switzerland

In the Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity in Bern, nuns from St. Elisabeth Convent in Minsk organized the sale of candles, books, cups, and souvenirs — ostensibly for collecting donations "for orphans". The publication in the Swiss newspaper Blick was noticed by 'Christian Vision'.

Local parishioner and Eastern Europe specialist Daniel Hänseler noticed the convent's stand, after which he raised an alarm and wrote protest letters to the parish, the parish newspaper, and the diocese, warning about the risk that donations could go to completely different purposes than those stated.

As a result, the church's rector, Mario Hübscher, stated that the permission was only for one weekend and the nuns' presence would not be repeated to avoid "associations that cause misunderstanding".
