Tajikistan students in Mogilev University warned about death penalty for terrorism

Tajikistan students studying at Belarusian State University of Food and Chemical Technology (BSUFT) were gathered for a preventive round table under the unusual title "Extremism – Boundaries of Reasonableness," noted the "MAYDAY.TEAM" channel.

The event was conducted by Galina Stalmakhova, a dormitory №2 educator at the State University of Technologies and curator for students from Tajikistan.

She explained to the young people that in the Republic of Belarus, an individual found guilty of committing an act of terrorism, depending on the circumstances of the crime and the severity of the consequences, is punishable by imprisonment, life imprisonment, or the death penalty.

"Foreign students familiarized themselves with concepts such as 'terrorism,' 'extremism'; types and directions of terrorism," the university's press service reported.

Mogilev BSUFT has been training specialists for a confectionery factory in Dushanbe since 2019, with about 20 students. At the same time, there are many more students from Uzbekistan, but they are not considered a "risk group" with a biased attitude, Mogilev human rights activists write.

The event "on the prevention of extremism and interethnic conflicts" at BSUFT coincided with the recent verdict handed down in Russia on March 12 to defendants in the criminal case concerning the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall concert venue near Moscow. The terrorist group "Wilayat Khorasan," which recruited people from the Tajik diaspora, claimed responsibility for the attack.
