On March 30, human rights activists recognized 6 more people as political prisoners. The total number of people currently recognized as political prisoners in Belarus is 913.
The following names have been added to the list of political prisoners:
Aliaksandr Karmanovich, Dzmitry Kalinouski, Artsiom Batsishchau, Zhanna Auramchyk, Aliaksandr Piuchuk, Aksana Valkovich.

In total, according to human rights defenders, 913 people are currently recognized as political prisoners. Recently, their total number has not significantly increased and has even decreased, sometimes noticeably. But this is not because repressions in Belarus are decreasing – it's simply that, parallel to new cases of imprisonment in criminal cases, there is a process of releasing those convicted who have fully served their sentences. Some are also released on pardons, including through the mediation of the United States, although new prisoners are continuously taken in their place. Also, courts sentence some to "home chemistry" (restricted freedom), after which the person leaves prison walls and is therefore no longer considered a prisoner.
It should also be taken into account that the statistics do not include all those imprisoned for political reasons; the actual number of Belarusian political prisoners is greater. Human rights defenders simply know nothing about some of them.
