Today is the last day of the Olympics, with a few more sets of medals to be awarded, but Norway is already out of reach.
They have 40 medals, including 18 gold, 11 silver, and 11 bronze.
The Norwegians not only secured first place prematurely but also amassed a record collection of gold medals. Scandinavian athletes achieved a total of 18 victories!
No one has ever had so many before. The previous record, by the way, also belonged to the Norwegians: they had 16 gold medals at Beijing 2022.
Norwegian cross-country skier Johannes Klæbo won six gold medals, four of them in individual competitions. Klæbo won all gold medals in men's cross-country skiing disciplines at these Olympics.
The US team is in second place with 11 gold victories. Today, the Americans can win gold in the men's ice hockey tournament if they defeat Canada in the final (match starts at 16:10 Minsk time).
The Netherlands and Italy each have 10 gold victories. What makes the Netherlands remarkable? They won 20 medals (10 gold, 7 silver, and three bronze).

For the first time since 1994, when it began competing as a separate team, Belarus did not win any medals at the Winter Olympics.
However, at these Games, due to international bans in several disciplines, including medal biathlon, only seven female athletes participated. But previously, they brought at least one award, as in 2002 or 2006. At Sochi 2014, they had their best result – six medals (5 gold and one bronze). At Beijing 2022, there were two silvers.
The best results for Belarus were shown by speed skater Maryna Zuyeva, who took 6th place in the 5000-meter race, and freestyle skier Hanna Huskova, who placed eighth in the ski aerials final.
A total of 30 countries won medals at these Olympics, including countries from the former USSR: Latvia (silver and bronze), Kazakhstan (one gold), Estonia (silver), Georgia (silver), Russia (silver).
A total of 95 countries are participating in the Games.
Today at the Olympics, medals will be awarded in the women's 50 km cross-country ski race, bobsleigh, curling, freestyle halfpipe, and the men's ice hockey tournament final.
The closing ceremony of the Olympics will begin at 22:30 Minsk time.
The next Winter Olympic Games will take place in February 2030 in the French Alps. These will be the fourth Winter Games in France since 1924.
