Von der Leyen promised that Ukraine would receive the 90 billion euros blocked by Orban "one way or another"

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that Ukraine would "one way or another" receive the promised 90 million euros loan, which was previously blocked by Hungary. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had earlier urged Europe to allocate these funds specifically on the anniversary of the war.

During her visit to Kyiv on February 24, von der Leyen also confirmed that she sees Ukraine as a future member of the European Union.

The European Parliament criticized Hungary's stance, which blocks not only the allocation of military aid but also a new package of sanctions against Russia. MEPs stated that such actions weaken Europe and benefit the aggressor.

Budapest is hindering EU decisions due to disputes with Kyiv regarding the transit of Russian oil via the "Druzhba" oil pipeline. Ukraine claimed that it was damaged as a result of Russian shelling, but the Hungarian side doubts this.

It is reported that over four years of war, the European Union has provided Ukraine with aid totaling more than 200 billion euros. During the current visit, European leaders promised to continue supporting the country until peace is restored "on Ukraine's terms."
