Russian Air Defense shot down its own helicopter near Rostov — three servicemen died

On the night of March 4, Russian air defense forces shot down a Mi-8 helicopter belonging to the Russian Ministry of Defense in the Rostov region. It crashed onto a local farmer's shed in the village of Dudki in Millerovo district. After the crash, the helicopter caught fire, and the outbuilding also burned down. Local residents reported this to ASTRA, and sources in the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed it.

ASTRA reached the farmer whose shed the helicopter crashed on. He reported that «everything is fine with him,» hung up the phone, and refused further comments.

Three helicopter crew members died on the spot. Civilians were not harmed, sources of the publication in the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations added.

The village of Dudki is located a few kilometers from the 'Millerovo' military airfield.

Earlier, Z-channels and local residents in chats reported without details that a Russian helicopter was shot down during air defense operations against Ukrainian drones. The governor remained silent about the helicopter being shot down and the death of three servicemen, stating that «no one was hurt.»

«Last evening and night, the Rostov region was subjected to an air attack. Several dozen UAVs were repelled in two districts — Millerovo and Tarasovsky. No one was hurt. However, there were consequences on the ground — as a result of UAV debris falling onto the territory of a recreational base under construction, an uninhabited premise was partially damaged (glazing and entrance doors). Information on the consequences is being clarified,» wrote Rostov Governor Yuri Slyusar.
