The laser light warning system operates in experimental mode on a section of the M1 highway and is intended to improve night driving safety.

On the M1 highway Brest — Minsk — Russian border, the only light notification system in Belarus has been launched, designed to help drivers stay awake at the wheel.
“Red-green laser beams are projected along the highway to increase drivers' concentration in conditions of poor visibility and prevent falling asleep at the wheel,” explained the Ministry of Transport's press service.
The monotony of driving on a high-speed highway often causes tragedies, and lasers are intended to be the stimulant that will awaken a person's attention.
Special laser installations have appeared on accident-prone sections in the area of Dzyarzhynsk and the village of Pryvolny in Minsk district.
The system will operate daily from 23:00 to 5:00.
