Oil prices could soar to $150 per barrel within two to three weeks if tankers are unable to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, and gas prices could almost quadruple compared to pre-Middle East conflict levels—up to €117 per MWh, stated Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Qatar's Minister of Energy, to the Financial Times.
A war between the US and Israel with Iran, the minister warned, could "collapse the global economy": oil prices would surge to record highs if all energy-exporting countries in the Persian Gulf halted production for several days.
But even if the conflict stops immediately, it will take Qatar "from several weeks to several months" to return to a normal supply cycle after an Iranian drone struck the country's largest LNG production plant.
