Belarusian at the border attacked a Polish customs officer while saving smuggled cigarettes
At the Belarusian-Polish border crossing point in Terespol, Polish customs and tax service officers stopped the smuggling of over 1,100 packs of cigarettes. During this, an unusual incident occurred, writes the press service of the Polish customs department.
Customs officers stopped a Land Rover car driven by a Belarusian citizen for inspection. During a detailed examination, it turned out that special structural changes had been made to the car: the central tunnel, sills, longitudinal elements, and floor were altered. Hidden cigarettes without Polish excise stamps were found in these secret compartments.
During the inspection, a dangerous situation arose — the driver attacked a customs officer who was performing his duties. The police were called to the scene, and the man was detained.
A criminal case was initiated against him for smuggling, and the car, specially adapted for illegal transportation of goods, was confiscated.
In addition, the man was charged with violating the inviolability of a public service officer. For such a crime in Poland, the penalty is up to three years of imprisonment. Customs officers also appealed to the Border Guard Service with a request to make a decision on expelling the Belarusian from the country.
