Pavel Lashchanka, Head of Belarusian Ernst&Young, Released

The 54-year-old top auditor was sentenced for "causing damage to the national security of Belarus."

Pavel Lashchanka

Pavel Lashchanka, head of the Belarusian office of the auditing company Ernst&Young, which is part of the "Big Four", is on the list of those released after the visit of the American delegation.

No serious business acquisition or merger deal in Belarus could go through without EY's assessment. EY was one of the main drivers and interpreters in promoting advanced financial standards and reporting.

Pavel was arrested at the end of 2024 or beginning of 2025 under Article 361 of the Criminal Code — calls for actions aimed at causing damage to the national security of Belarus. It is known that the criminal case was initiated for events in 2020.

Then, amid the beating of citizens by the police, a letter signed by Lashchanka was sent to the heads of law enforcement and state bodies, in which he expressed doubt about the figures announced by Yarmoshyna, and also called on everyone to come to their senses and return to legality.

It is unknown what exact sentence Lashchanka received, but he spent more than a year behind bars. He served his sentence in a penal colony in Vitebsk.
