Presentation of a book about Belarusians in Lithuania to be held in Vilnius
On April 15, a presentation of the Belarusian translation of the book "Belarusians in the Republic of Lithuania (1918-1940)" will take place in Vilnius, with the participation of its author, Tomasz Błaszczak.

Tomasz Błaszczak is a Doctor of History, teaching at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas. He specializes in researching the history of national movements in Eastern and Central Europe in the 20th century. He is the author of three monographs and several dozens of articles on this topic.
This book:
- covers the social, political, cultural, and educational activities of the Belarusian community in Lithuania during the interwar period.
- explores how the attitude of Belarusian politicians towards the issue of Vilnius and the Vilnius region changed between 1918 and 1939.
- highlights leaders of the Belarusian community in Lithuania, including Klaudziy Duzh-Dusheuski.
Based on a wide range of sources, the book meticulously examines Belarusian-Lithuanian relations both during the struggle for the creation of independent Lithuania and Belarus, and during the interwar period, when Belarusians remained a stateless nation, while Lithuanians managed to defend their state. Much attention is paid to military cooperation between Lithuania and the Belarusian Democratic Republic, as well as Belarusian-language book publishing and the public life of Belarusians in interwar Lithuania.
Presentation time: April 15 (Wednesday), 18:30 — 19:30.
Address: Belarusian House, Vilniaus gatvė 20, Vilnius.
The presentation is held with the support of the European Union program 'EU4Belarus: Support to Advanced Learning and Training (SALT II).
