As stated in the decision published on April 16 on the National Legal Internet Portal of Belarus, approved on March 11, it was coordinated with other organizers of the festival — the Ministry of Culture, the Viciebsk Regional Executive Committee, the Viciebsk Regional Methodological Center for Folk Art, and the Braslau District Association of Museums.
It is noteworthy that the Braslau District Executive Committee's website still contains an announcement inviting representatives from other countries to participate in the festival, which was supposed to take place this year from May 22-24. Applications for participation were accepted until March 1.
"Braslaŭskija Zarnicy" traces its history back to 1967, and since 2009, the festival gained international status. It traditionally featured dancers, musicians, and singers from various regions of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, and Estonia.
Since 2012, the festival also hosted the medieval culture festival "Meč Bračyslava" (Bračyslaŭ's Sword). The Belarusian side compensated participants for all transportation costs and provided food. This year, the program of "Braslaŭskija Zarnicy" was planned to open with a thousand-strong combined choir.
Previously, it became known that four major festivals in Belarus were canceled at once — Festiwow in Minsk, Niasviž's Wostrau, "Suncastayannie" (Solstice) in Pružany, and Lidbeer in Lida. Only a few isolated festivals will be held in the country this summer. In Braslau itself, the Viva Braslav festival, organized by the private company "Level Group," is scheduled for July 24-25.
