Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, after defeating Rico Verhoeven in a fight for the WBC heavyweight world title, immediately mentioned the massive attack that Ukraine experienced overnight from Russia.

It was a unique event — a boxing match between a champion boxer and a kickboxing champion, which took place in Egypt. Oleksandr Usyk secured a technical knockout victory in the 11th round, defending his WBC world title.
The historic bout proved to be extremely challenging for the Ukrainian champion, but in the 11th round, Usyk managed to turn the tide of the fight, sending his opponent to the canvas with a powerful uppercut. The referee then stopped the fight a second before the end of the round, awarding the Ukrainian a technical knockout victory.
Immediately in the ring, Usyk was asked how important this victory was to him. Instead of talking about his success, the native of Crimea drew the public's attention to the tragedy unfolding in his homeland: during the fight, Russia launched another massive attack on Ukrainian cities using missiles and drones.
"For me, this [victory] is very important, but right now my people in Ukraine are in bomb shelters, under attack. My daughter wrote to me: 'Dad, you will win.' Rico, you are extraordinary. My team, I love you. Kateryna, you are my life and my heart," Usyk said.
"I dedicate this fight to the Ukrainians and the Ukrainian military," he declared.
This triumph marked Oleksandr Usyk's 25th victory in his professional career. He remains an undefeated world champion.
