In Minsk, metal spikes have been installed on a surveillance camera at the entrance to the Kastrychnitskaya metro station, which sparked discussion online. The metro authorities told the "Minsk-Novosti" agency why they did this.

Previously, pigeons often sat on this camera, but after the installation of the special structure, the birds disappeared. Some users perceived this negatively, but the metro authorities explained that such a decision was necessary.
According to specialists, birds interfered with the camera's operation: they could block the view and contaminate the equipment. In addition, their presence contributed to the appearance and reproduction of birds in service areas, which could worsen the sanitary condition of the station. Moreover, there had been passenger complaints about this previously.
The metro authorities emphasize that the camera is used for security control, so it must operate without interference.
It is noted that there are other convenient places nearby for birds, for example, in Alexander Garden, so their habitat is not disturbed in any way.
