Due to her addiction to alcohol and drugs, the Gomel woman's children were taken away. A significant sum was deducted from her earnings for their upkeep. The woman decided to obtain money for personal needs through criminal means.
She began stealing expensive alcohol from the store and selling it at the market. At that time, she had already undergone treatment at a drug rehabilitation center and was not consuming alcohol.
To avoid attracting attention, the resourceful Gomel woman came to the store in different clothes. She chose a moment when no one was in the relevant section, hid the bottles in a bag or in her trousers, and then calmly left the sales floor.
The woman visited the shopping center five to seven times a month. She tried to take goods up to 400 rubles so that, in case of detention, she would only face a minor theft charge.
A shortage of elite alcohol amounting to almost 2,000 rubles was discovered during inventory. The head of the security department of the retail chain, reviewing surveillance camera footage, noticed a woman in a white coat.
Upon closer inspection, he realized that he had previously caught this visitor to the store committing minor thefts.
"The Gomel woman, previously convicted of similar crimes, faces another trial. According to Part One of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of Belarus, she faces a penalty of up to three years of imprisonment," said Alyona Amelyanovich, senior assistant prosecutor of the city.
