The Moscow authorities state that such measures are being taken to combat "fakes" and the dissemination of unverified information. However, the ban will not apply to messages officially published by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Fines are provided for violating the new rules. For ordinary citizens, they will range from 3 to 5 thousand Russian rubles, for officials — from 30 to 50 thousand, and for legal entities — from 50 to 200 thousand rubles.
The corresponding norms are enshrined in Article 15.5 of the Moscow Code on Administrative Offenses.
