According to the Telegram channel «Оперативний ЗСУ» (Operative AFU), Ivan Uladzimiravich Anenkau was born on September 9, 1977, and fought under the call sign «Stary» (Old Man) in the 164th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Ground Forces (permanent deployment location — Aleysk, Altai Krai).
According to the Ukrainian side, the captured Belarusian is from Vaukavysk. As he told Ukrainian servicemen, he ended up with the contract from a Russian prison, where he was serving a 5-year sentence for intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm. Anenkau had gone to Russia for work. He served 2 years and decided to sign a contract with the Russian army.
On his very first combat mission, Anenkau was wounded and returned to his military unit, participating in propaganda television reports. Later he was sent back to the front, where he received a second wound, after which he again returned to the front. Ukrainian sources claim that he had conflicts with officers because they did not fill out the combat log, and he could not receive money for his injuries.
After the Belarusian's complaints, he was again sent to the front. When Anenkau, along with other Russian servicemen, tried to establish positions, they were attacked by Ukrainian drones. After this, he was captured.
Anenkau was captured by servicemen of the 18th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. This happened in the Lyman direction, in the area of the settlement of Yampil, Kramatorsk district, Donetsk region. Now he has appealed to Aliaksandr Lukashenka for help to return home.
