UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham stated that the government may consider the country's return to the European Union among options for reviewing relations with Europe. He said this in an interview with the BBC.

Burnham listed four possible paths: maintain current relations, create a customs union with the EU, return to the single European market, or restore full membership. "We could go all the way," the Prime Minister said, referring to the last option. According to him, the government should assess the feasibility of each scenario, its advantages and disadvantages.
However, Burnham did not announce a decision to return to the EU. He reiterated that he would like to see this in his lifetime, but clarified that it is not necessarily about the near future.
The referendum on UK membership in the European Union took place in June 2016. 51.9% of participants voted to leave the EU, while 48.1% voted to remain. Turnout was 72.2%.
The Kingdom officially left the European Union on January 31, 2020. The history of the exit was named Brexit.
