Brown, and sometimes black, water flows.

For the past few days, residents of some microdistricts of Dzyarzhynsk have been complaining about the deterioration of water quality.
It turned out that the inconveniences are related to large-scale technological works carried out in Dzyarzhynsk on October 1. On this day, water utility specialists reconnected consumers from the old central water supply network to the new one. Works were carried out simultaneously at five points in the city.
— During the subsequent launch of the updated system, it was necessary to supply more than 2000 cubic meters of water simultaneously. Such a significant volume provoked the occurrence of water hammer — sudden pressure drops in pipelines, — explained Dzh.by chief engineer Anatol Chaikouski. — This, in turn, led to natural turbidity of bottom sediments and the washing out of long-standing deposits from adjacent sections of the existing networks. These processes were precisely the reason for the change in the color and transparency of the water for some subscribers.
According to him, water utility specialists are now already carrying out technological flushing of the affected sections of the water supply. These works will be carried out until the full restoration of normative water quality indicators.
Until the flushing is complete, the enterprise strongly recommends residents to use water for drinking only after settling and boiling.
