Lukashenka is satisfied with the results of applying Salihorsk potash waste to fields
Aliaksandr Lukashenka in spring instructed to find a way to use the potash production waste accumulated around Salihorsk. One of the possible options is to use them to improve soil fertility, primarily in the southern regions of Belarus, where there are many sandy soils.

The possibility of such use is being studied as part of an experiment on a trial plot of 20 hectares in the Minsk region. Before sowing corn, the soil was treated in various ways. On some plots, conventional fertilizers were used, on others — experimental mixtures with peat and clay-salt sludges. These sludges are formed during the extraction of potash fertilizers and contain some useful substances.
According to preliminary results, the most significant growth of green mass was observed on plots where ordinary compost and compost with sludges were used. A positive effect was also noted based on the average number of cobs per plant.
Lukashenka stated that on plots where potash production waste was applied together with organic matter and even peat, the results were better than where such mixtures were not used.
Final conclusions will be made after harvesting corn for grain and calculating the yield. The experiment is planned to continue on other crops, including cereals, to compare results over several seasons.
"I need an answer to the question of what we will do with this waste around Salihorsk. We must conduct an experiment to accurately answer what to do with these sludges," Lukashenka emphasized.
