Villager from Ivye area asked drunk unlicensed friend to drive. He accelerated to 202 km/h — and killed the car owner by crashing into a pole
The 20-year-old driver was sentenced to five years in a penal colony.

The Ivye District Court delivered a verdict in a fatal accident case, reports the Grodno Regional Court.
In June 2026, a 20-year-old local resident was drinking with friends. Around 5 AM, the 37-year-old owner of a "Honda", who was also drunk, asked him to get behind the wheel. The young man did not have a driver's license.
They were driving on the road from Ivye towards Lipnishki. The driver accelerated the car to 202 km/h, veered off the road, and crashed at full speed into an electrical transmission line support.
The owner of the car was sitting in the front passenger seat and was not wearing a seatbelt. He sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.
The driver survived, albeit with a broken leg.
The court found the driver guilty under Part 4 of Art. 317 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules while intoxicated, which negligently led to the death of a person). He was sentenced to five years of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony and prohibited from driving vehicles for 8 years.
In addition, he must pay the deceased's sister 30,000 rubles in compensation for moral damages.
