Nasta Kudasava. We did not believe in thirty-seven — and twenty knocked on our door
Poet Nasta Kudasava, for the Day of Shot Poets, which Belarusians celebrate on October 29, published a commemorative poem.

We loved to lock ourselves at home,
not to hear Kurapaty's howl.
We didn't believe in thirty-seven —
and twenty knocked on our door.
This dread, with rotten leaves,
stuffs itself into bags of bodies.
I wish I could wake up, leave,
float away, fly away, I wish…
We didn't believe in thirty-seven,
didn't look Kurapaty in the face,
we, cowering, slept at home —
and twenty knocked on our door.
