Belarus plans to resume air travel between Minsk and regional centers when light aircraft of the "Asvei" type appear in the country. This was announced by Igor Golub, Director of the Aviation Department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, as reported by Office Life.

According to the official, more economical aircraft are needed for domestic flights over distances up to 600 kilometers. Current Belavia liners are too large and costly for such transportation. However, "Asvei" aircraft, on which Belarusian and Russian specialists are working, should help resume regular flights between Minsk and the regions.
Belavia currently has 18 aircraft: ten Boeing, five Embraer, and three Airbus. The company has already withdrawn one Boeing 737-300 from service and plans to cease using another aircraft of this model by the end of the year. This will conclude the long history of operating the Boeing Classic family.
Meanwhile, the operation of regional airports has been gradually resuming since 2023. Flights initially began from Gomel, then from Brest, Mogilev, and Vitebsk.
Grodno remains the only regional center whose airport has not operated international flights in recent years. Previously, this was attributed to the unsatisfactory condition of the runway. The airport is currently undergoing technical modernization to bring it in line with international standards. It is planned to open for flights in winter.
One of the problems was the lack of modern radio-technical equipment necessary for round-the-clock flights in various meteorological conditions. The equipment has already been purchased and delivered to the airport, but it still needs to be configured, after which airlines must assess the feasibility of operating flights.
In Vitebsk, unlike Gomel, Brest, and Mogilev, there are currently no regular international flights – only charter flights are operated there. Belavia clarified that there are currently no plans to launch regular flights from this airport either.
