ROC organized an overflight of Russian defeat sites with the relics of Saint George the Victorious
Priests of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) organized an "aerial cross procession" over Donbas with the relics of Saint George the Victorious. This was reported by the military department of the Moscow Patriarchate, The Moscow Times writes .
Priests flew over in a military helicopter sections of the front where the Russian "West" grouping is fighting. In particular, they visited the Kupyansk and Lyman directions, where the Russian army suffered a major defeat in the autumn.
According to estimates by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), in September and the first three weeks of October, Russian troops lost control over an area of 241 square kilometers. They also lost a salient near Lyman and were threatened with encirclement during the offensive on Sloviansk.
The ROC stated that Russian servicemen on the front are performing their difficult work, knowing about the prayerful support and intercession of saints. Representatives of this Church also noted that the tradition of consecrating the country's borders with religious relics has existed for many centuries.
The video of the helicopter overflight is accompanied by a song with lyrics by Priest Georgy Dekhtyarev. Among other things, it contains the words: «Мы молимся в небе над выжженной стынью, чтоб вера была нашей силой в войне» (We pray in the sky over the scorched wasteland, so that faith may be our strength in war) and «Пусть дроны и копья закроют зенит, но с нами творец, мы стеною стоим» (Let drones and spears cover the zenith, but the creator is with us, we stand as a wall).
This is not the first such initiative by the ROC. In September, the church began transporting to the front the relics of Moscow Prince Dmitry Donskoy. Their location was officially announced a month earlier. The relics, in particular, were delivered to a temple at the memorial complex "Savur-Mohyla" in the territory of the self-proclaimed "DNR".
Then the ROC called for prayers for the strengthening of Russia, the courage and spiritual resilience of its servicemen, as well as for God's help to the Russian army.
Later, Russian Z-channels reported that during the retreat in the Lyman area, Russian servicemen might have lost part of the relics of Dmitry Donskoy.
