White crows do occur as a phenomenon, but the chance of encountering such a bird in nature is very small.
They arise due to albinism — a rare genetic mutation through which the bird's body completely or partially disrupts the production of the pigment melanin, which is responsible for the black or gray coloration of feathers, skin, and eyes.
This characteristic is inherited, and although albino birds are physiologically adapted to life, they are very rarely found in the wild because their bright white feathers make them an easy target for predators and they are often not accepted into the flock by their kin.
