Minsk resident didn't believe that a courier works at the National Bank and asked scammers for advice
They confirmed everything and got richer by 7 thousand dollars.
A 50-year-old resident of the capital contacted the Minsk police. The woman thought she had declared money at the National Bank, but later realized that she had been deceived by phone scammers, reports the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The day before, fraudsters called her on behalf of "BelEnergo" and asked for a code to replace meters. Then, under the guise of employees of the State Control Committee, they demanded that she declare all her savings through a freelance employee of the National Bank.
After meeting him, the Minsk resident began to doubt that the man was indeed a bank courier. She reported her suspicions to a female curator who remained in contact with her the entire time.
She assured her that everything was under control and their meeting was being documented. Believing her, the Minsk resident handed the stranger 7 thousand dollars, thinking that she would soon get them back. However, that same evening, the fraudsters stopped responding.
