In Poland, Belarusian long-haul driver faces prison — tried to import exotic lizards
An unusual cargo was found on October 26 during a truck inspection in Koroszczyn. The vehicle was entering Poland from Belarus. Plastic boxes and bags with live lizards were hidden in the cabin and the semi-trailer's equipment.

The driver was a 41-year-old citizen of Belarus. He stated that he ordered the reptiles online from a Russian seller. An unknown man was supposed to pick them up in Poland.
According to the driver, he intended to sell them for 3000 euros. Customs officers valued the lizards at over 20,000 euros.
Some of the lizards belong to species protected by an international convention. The driver did not have the necessary documents for their transport. For illegal import, he could face a penalty ranging from a fine to five years of imprisonment.
