A gravely ill man had his coronary arteries, abdominal aorta and leg arteries repaired in what was described as a unique surgical procedure performed in the National Cardiological Hospital in Minsk.
The 57-year-old resident of Brest had been unable to walk, could hardly sit up and had an ischemic ulcer on his leg before the surgery.
The man had arteries repaired in three different parts of his body in one operation, which became the first such procedure carried out in the Commonwealth of Independent States, says the Deputy Chief of the Hospital.
The patient is already able to walk and is expected to be discharged from the hospital soon, the doctor said.
