Number of police officers will be reduced, the wages increased.
Aliaksandr Lukashenka has instructed top executives of the Interior Ministry to prepare proposals regarding the ministry’s reformation.
Appointing top executives of the Interior Ministry, Aliaksandr Lukashenka said those were not regular appointments.
“I didn’t say for any reason that we should reform the Interior Ministry. We should reform it without breaking it as it usually happened in our country and in neighboring countries. We are not going to just rename the Interior Ministry and so on. It is just unacceptable for our society. We are not going to break down the structure because I believe the main body of the ministry and police departments is fine. It meets present-day requirements.”
Lukashenka also mentioned that the reduction of the number of personnel is a sound decision. This will allow increasing money allowance of the police units.
“As part of the reform, first, we should prune non-core functions of the Interior Ministry,” said the president.
“We should take a look at the army component of the Interior Ministry. It should be brought into compliance with present-day requirements,” said Aliaksandr Lukashenka.
