Will the band "Petlya Pristrastiya" continue to perform with a new vocalist, without Ilya Cherepko?

In October-December 2025, the post-punk band "Petlya Pristrastiya" played its last international tour. It became their final tour by the decision of vocalist Ilya Cherepko-Samokhvalov, who decided to leave the band, whose history began in 2004.

The band's leader explained his motivation as a desire to move forward: "The main reason was the desire to move to the next level. For several months now, I have been working on my own project and intend to dedicate all my time to it."

However, it later became known that many factors were involved.

"Cherepko of 2023-2024 no longer exists, that person died. I was able to extinguish the fuses of my practically lifelong alcoholism, completely get rid of the acquisition of recent years — an addiction to cocaine, and also, at the same time, from years of toxic relationships.

I appreciated the significance of people truly valuable to me, stopped listening to unsolicited advice, and started making decisions myself — as a result, I was able to return home, although I no longer dreamed of it," the musician shared his year's results.

"Petlya Pristrastiya" released seven full-length albums during its existence. The last of them - "Superposition" - was released in 2024 and was entirely in Belarusian. The band was in good shape and gathered full venues of fans across Europe - for many fans, their breakup was a shock. Ilya Cherepko reacted philosophically to this on social media.

"I left the band, I didn't kick everyone else out. All these years I was told that all members are equivalent creative units. During the band's existence, there were cases when we played concerts sometimes without a guitar, sometimes without a bass, and sometimes, not with the current drummer, but that also happened - without drums. Ilya Cherepko - vocals - simply left the band.

The band can fully continue its triumphant march. There are enough vocalists there. I gave more than 20 years of my life and 7 albums to the fans of the band, they won't disappear and will forever remain yours."

It is known that Ilya wanted to leave without even playing the last autumn farewell tour. But he was convinced otherwise, partly with hints of the penalty he would have to pay if he made such a decision, as agreements with venues were already in place.

According to "Nasha Niva," Ilya traveled separately from the other band members during this tour. Fans also noted the coldness in communication between the musicians during the final performances.

So, will the story of "Petlya" continue with another vocalist?

The musicians refused to comment on their future plans, partly because everyone is finding it difficult to put an end to the project. But, according to "Nasha Niva," at the moment no one is planning to revive "Petlya Pristrastiya" with a new lineup or in a different format. The band has indeed ceased to exist.

Ilya Cherepko is now working on his new project. Bassist Timofey Savitsky and drummer Alexey Tarasevich were spotted in a new post-punk project called "Pripyat," featuring the 17-year-old son of the bassist, Kazimir, in the foreground. Guitarist Dmitry Poplavsky gives lessons on his instrument, and Ivan Selishchev has always been a good organizer of concerts and tours, so he will most likely continue to do so.

sanitar, так, вярнуўся ў Беларусь. Не ведаю, праз камісію ці ён проста быў апалітычны ўвесь гэты час.
